___ Introduction:

Hello, and thank you for downloading my texture tutorials. I have been writing these tutorials since 2003, when I began my career in the game industry. They are written for beginner to intermediate level users of Adobe Photoshop 5, 5.5, 6, and 7. Most of the techniques are applicable to other art programs such as Paint Shop Pro and The "Gimp". Whatever the program or toolset, I'm sure you'll find some useful information that will help you. Even if creating textures is not your primary goal, I've included general articles that talk about important tools and functions within Photoshop that will help you excel in both productivity and the quality of your art.

 Index of Tutorials:

Here they are... every tutorial I've written in the past three years. If you are new to Photoshop, or making textures for games in general, I strongly suggest reading through the "Basics of Creating Textures" and the "Rulers And Guides" walk-through.     My name is Nikolai 'Mr. Lake' Mohilchock. I am an Environment Artist and Designer working for Treyarch Studios; the company behind such hits as the original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Spider-Man 2, and Ultimate Spider-Man. The most recent game to date that I have worked on is "Call of Duty 2: Big Red One". My career began at the now legendary studio "Gray Matter Interactive", makers of Kingpin, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, and Call of Duty: United Offensive. I was invited to join after my level-designing-hobby-turned-obsession gained their attention. In the past, I have been known within the Quake III Community as 'Mr. Lake' - a multiplayer map designer. For over six years now I have been creating maps for the community and offering support where I can. I imagine I will be doing so for the rest of my life.
